You know there is room for improvement!
It is natural for us to do the very least that we have to do, in order to get by.
It might be at our job, our business, our relationships, exercise, personal development, saving, finance or paying off our house…
It is called the path of least resistance and not only humans follow this path but all living and non living things on the face of the earth.
Look at the swan river for example; it is shaped like a dog’s hind leg, not because it is the shortest past, but for water, using gravity and the slope of the Perth geography, it uses the path of least resistance.
If we look at plants, they grow towards the sun and shoot roots in the direction that gives them the best return on their effort, in order to survive.
Animals in the animal kingdom target the weak, young, sick and old prey, because they are the easiest to capture, kill and eat and they are also the path of least resistance.
So it is only natural to do the same, put off til tomorrow, what you could do today…
Some more human examples…
- Get to work late, do the least and then leave early
- Just get by with our income, expenditure and purchases
- Live off an overdraft
- Pay when you can
- Exercise enough to get to the next appointment
- Eat what we like until we have to do differently because of what we have harvested through the inaction of our life.
- Doing enough to get by, but not much else, like painting the lines on the road and not taking the extra step of getting out of the vehicle and moving some debris off the road!
As humans, 100% of us have the unique ability to choose to do things differently, if we want.
We can set goals to create habits to implement strategies to improve, even when we are doing really well. Only 3% of the population do this and here is one of them…
Steve Litas owns Padbury Pharmacy which just a few years ago was one of the most profitable pharmacies in WA. That didn’t stop Steve from striving to improve the business and to take it to a new level.

Stephen wanted to put his own stamp onto the pharmacy. Wanting to better position his pharmacy as a vital hub in the health and wellbeing of his local community.
Without resting on his laurels and with a desire to improve his business he has set out to refit his pharmacy to provide better access to his customers, clients and patients. To better manage the customer flow and to provide greater customer advice, but could it be possible?
Yes, of coarse it was…
The pharmacy now has an up to date layout with the pharmacist’s on duty able to shift between the dispensary and the customers with ease. Being able to have that personal conversation, dispense advice, the medicine and warm customer friendly service.
The business is booming more than ever and Steve is now entering into a CRM marketing platform to provide the very best of advice and service based on the seasonal and social needs of his immediate local community. This is just the first of many business improvement and growth strategies that Steve has planned and is implementing over the next 5-10 years.
